Anchor/Health Editor
Sue Nigra joined the CBS 6 anchor team in September, 1998. Every weekday, Sue anchors CBS 6 News at Noon, as well as CBS 6 News at 5:00, where she's joined by co-anchor Jack Aernecke. Sue happily considers the Capital Region home. After spending her formative years in Gloversville and Johnstown, she moved to Albany to attend The College of Saint Rose, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Public Communications. While in college, Sue served as an intern at WNYT. Shortly after graduation, she began work at WTEN, where she advanced from behind the scenes to the weekend anchor position.
Now, Sue is proud to be part of the CBS 6 family. In addition to anchoring, she presents health reports each day at Noon and 5:00. As Health Editor, Sue brings viewers information on a wide range of topics affecting their lives on everything from nutrition and exercise - to the very latest advancements in medicine. Sue even has a weekly segment dedicated to the health of animals.
An active member of the community — Sue has been given the President's Award for Community Excellence by the Junior League of Schenectady. She has participated in the Taking Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk and the Walk to Cure Diabetes. Sue has also worked with the American Red Cross on several blood drives. In addition, she has moderated a series of educational seminars on arthritis through the Arthritis Foundation. Sue has also been involved in both the St. Jude and Jerry Lewis telethons at Channel 6, as well as the Melodies of Christmas, a fund raiser for Albany Medical Center's Child Cancer Program.
Sue lives in Rensselaer County with her husband Joe and their daughter Elizabeth.
